Hi I’m Drew! I’m the Talent Manager here at Scholar. I have a love for all things art, design, and animation. As a Talent Manager, I shepherd new and established artists into roles that allow them to blossom. I’m constantly inspired by the creativity of the team here. Please hit me up on LinkedIn if you have any questions about Scholar, the design/animation industry, job opportunities here, or anything else!

I made my way into the industry in a roundabout, non-traditional way. After studying politics, history, and archaeology in college, I started working at a large VFX studio after following a passion for films. I quickly discovered that my favorite part of the job was fostering talent and helping hire and grow artist’s careers. From then on, I’ve found myself loving being a Talent Manager.

What do you like to do when you are not in the office?

Outside of scouting amazing new talent for Scholar and helping our artists grow, I love architecture, history, the beach, and traveling.

Favorite thing about working at Scholar?

One of my favorite parts of the job here is meeting with and fostering emerging talent. Each year, I meet with students from across the globe, both online and at various campus recruiting events. And guiding their eventual careers through the Scholar internship program.

What advice do you want to share with those looking to break into the industry?

My biggest advice is don’t stop trying. Everyone has to start somewhere, and everyone remembers trying to break in at the beginning of their career. Have the confidence to keep reaching out, following up, sharing your work, asking questions, and being curious. It shows a true commitment and passion.

What are the things you look for in portfolios?

I get this question a lot, and my answer seems to shift over time. There’s not one specific thing I look for, either. Right now, I love to find artists that have a particular point of view. I love to see an artist’s background and personal experiences come through in their work. That can come across practically on an artist's reel or on their website through detailed ‘process’ highlights showing how they came up with and executed original concepts.
